The MGA Member Guest is fast approaching!
Saturday, February 4
The Men's Golf Association created this event at the request of our working members as a way to bring guests to our wonderful golf course on a weekend - when you and your friends are more likely to play.  Less rigorous than the Dove Hunt, this "kinder and gentler" Best Ball format makes for a great day of competitive golf.  Need more information - please check with Pete Toutas or contact Brian Roluffs in the Golf Shop. Sign up today!

Remember it is still winter......frost delays are still here!!  Please be patient when starting times are pushed back.  The short delay until the frost melts helps preserve the quality of your golf course.

Thank you Judi Botwin for filling in for me while I was in the cold north over the holidays. With the beautiful weather and the month of ‘love’ upon us, why not come out and enjoy your love for the
ame of golf! We are hoping to see many of you out during this month for a clinic on February 1st followed by the ever popular Eclectic matches on February 8,15 and 22. All rounds are Open Play. And what a better way to end the month with a fifth round on the 29th which will be a pitch ‘n putt. All of these games will be lots of fun! Heads up for the infamous La Paloma 9 hole invitational. February Golf Tip
Get Parallel
by Corey Baehman, Head PGA Professional
The beauty of golf is that you can play it for many different reasons. It can be a social experience, a form of mediation, an athletic activity or for many competitive people a test. Not unlike a college course or learning a trade. We study, practice, concentrate, prepare and get a score at the end telling us how we performed. As successful business people, golf can be approached in much the same way. The “pieces of the pie” are extremely similar; data, research, reading, visual aids, dedication, strong work ethics are all part of both. Good athletes/business people/students typically are also good golfers. They approach both with passion and energy. Both are also performed better the more time you spent at it. This regular exposure helps us maintain motivation, gain experience and confidence. We also rely heavily on our” tools”: pictures, training aids, matching equipment, data and reports.

So as we can see there are many parallels between the two topics. It’s quite obvious we have many successful business people here at La Paloma, so try and approach your golf game the same way.

Let’s take a look at a few quotes that can apply to either.

“Of all the hazards, fear is the worst.”
    ~ Sam Snead

“Concentration comes out of a combination of confidence and hunger.”
    ~ Arnold Palmer

“Golf is 20 percent talent and 80 percent management.”
    ~ Ben Hogan
