La Paloma Swim Team

The La Paloma Swim Team is both a USA Swimming (year-round) and SAAA (summer) program for kids age 17 and younger who know how to swim and desire to be on a team with expert coaching and training methods.

Swim Team Practices:

  • Mondays:  Dynamo 4pm-4:45pm; Blue 4:45pm-5:45pm; Silver Senior 5:45pm-7:15pm
  • Tuesdays:  Dynamo 4pm-4:45pm, Silver/Senior Dryland 4:45pm-5pm, Silver/Senior 5pm-6:30pm
  • Wednesdays:  Dynamo 4pm-4:45pm, Blue 4:45pm-5:45pm. Silver/Senior 5:45pm-7:15pm
  • Thursdays:  Dynamo 4pm-4:45pm, Silver Senior Dryland 4:45pm-5pm, Silver/Senior 5pm-6:30pm
  • Fridays:  Blue 4pm-5pm. Silver/Senior 5pm-6:30pm

NOTE: For insurance purposes we are asking that everyone register as a member of USA swimming (year round) &/or SAAA (for summer season).  There will be a minimal (non-refundable) charge, and you will be guided through the registration process for these memberships.  With the membership fee, your children will become USA Swimming &/or SAAA member(s) for one year and allowed to participate in USA Swimming &/or SAAA (summer) sanctioned meets.

Coaching Staff:New_swim_team

Chad Castillo M.Ed: Chemistry teacher at CDO high school. Head coach of La Paloma club team. Chad was a high school All American, state champion and has coached in Tucson AZ for 18 years; at FORD Aquatics, Salpointe, Flowing Wells and other swimming programs. Chad has 2 children on the team.

  

Gina Snyder: Gina is a recent graduate from Pacific Lutheran University where she earned a degree in Psychology and gender studies. Gina swam throughout her childhood and has been coaching and teaching lessons for over 9 years! This is Gina's first season with La Paloma and is excited to get started!


Ian Urquhart: A La Paloma Alumni, Ian is continuing coaching with us from the summer!  Ian is going into his Sophomore year at Pima College.  He was an integral part of the CDO swim team winning a state championship his senior year.

 

Jeff Commings:  Jeff is a 9-time NCAA All American, FINA Masters World Record holder, USMS National Record holder, All-Star All American swimmer for USMS, and is the main anchor for USA Swimming’s Deck Pass Live.  He is the co-owner, Masters Head Coach, and Senior Private Instructor for Dolphins of the Desert Swimming Academy.

 

Geoff Glaser: Geoff is Co-Owner, General Manager, and Senior Coach for Dolphins of the Desert Swim Academy and has been coaching teams and swimmers privately for over 40 years.  Geoff is a former masters National Record Holder and was the first Coloradoan to swim across the English Channel.


Rose Snyder:  Rose has dedicated her life to the sport of swimming.  She was nationally ranked as an age group swimmer, a high school All American and a varsity letter winner at the University of Arizona.  She worked for USA Swimming as the Director of Club services and for the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the Associate Director of Coaching.  She has coached at all levels of the sport and raised two swimming daughters.  She is proud to be in her 40th year of coaching and is honored to be working with La Paloma and Dolphins of the Desert.
